The Ultimate Superman Themed Birthday

My husband is a huge Superman fan, so naturally, both of his kids love the Man of Steel from Krypton as well. When I asked my step son what he wanted to do for his 5th birthday party, I already knew the answer before he even opened his mouth. Superman.

So I hopped on Pinterest, and put on my thinking cap to do everything that I could to throw him the ultimate Superman themed party.

Here is what we came up with.

In addition to the Superman, red, yellow and blue table clothes and streamers, I printed and cut out many, many (MANY) Superman logos, and spread them out over the tables that the kids were sitting at. We bought Superman balloons, and put them out at the end of the driveway.

For the candy and dessert table, I wrapped boxes in various sizes with wrapping paper ( this kid must know I love him, because wrapping presents is not my forte). I also got an idea on Pinterest to buy mini crates at the dollar store, and put tissue paper inside them, flat against the sides. They looked like little buildings after I was finished, and added an extra something to the Metropolis skyline.

For dinner, we made sliders for the kids. I taped mini Superman symbols to the toothpicks, and put a tooth pick in each burger.

We had fruit kabobs, made with Superman colors. We used blueberries, strawberries, and pineapple. At the end of the kabob, we taped mini Superman symbols.

Candy included kryptonite ( green rock candy), as well as red and blue Pixy Stix and Twizzlers. I made cups of Jello (red, blue and yellow) as well, and stuck cake pop sticks in them with Superman logos on them for an extra decoration.

And then the cake. I made a blue cake, with a giant superman symbol on it. I added some fondant buildings ( which started to melt. I need to work on my fondant skills) and topped it off with a Superman action figure, and a comic bubble that said ” Have a super 5th birthday, Willon it.

To drink, we had green punch, aka “Liquid Kryptonite”, which I also found on Pinterest.

In addition to swimming, a water balloon fight, and running through the house like crazy kindergarteners, we played “Pin The Logo On Superman”. I drew a Lego Superman guy on a poster board, and cut out a Superman logo for each kid and wrote their name on it. When it was their turn, we tied a cape around their eyes so they couldn’t see, and they had to pin the logo on Superman. They had a lot of fun! I even made the girls a pink superman logo.

At the end of the party, we had all of the kids sign the Superman cape for Will. When he gets older, he will be able to look at it and see all of the kids that came to his 5th birthday party!
